Within this issue of R&R, we’ve talked about drying out spaces, when to demo, when not to demo, where to potentially place drying equipment, and so on.

When the world thinks about natural disasters, they are often thinking on a large scale: Hurricane Katrina, the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the Joplin tornados, wildfires spreading across state lines, and the like. In reality, however, those are a very small fraction of the disasters that happen almost daily around the world.

The next disaster is imminent. It always is. That might be a Debbie Downer attitude, but it’s the truth, especially when you think about disaster on a more local scale. While a hurricane can impact a dozen states and trigger an emergency declaration by the president, there are a lot of small communities that face their own disasters much more frequently.

Another successful show is in the books! This year, the 2016 International Restoration Convention & Industry Expo also celebrated RIA’s 70 years of leadership in the restoration industry. From an evening welcome reception in a beautiful outdoor garden space to the 70^th anniversary gala, it was truly an event to remember.

This month marks a full year since I left the world of TV news behind and picked up the R&R torch. So, this year’s 2016 International Restoration Convention & Industry Expo in Orlando several weeks ago really felt like things coming full circle for me.
