ABC’s Construction Confidence Index readings for sales, profit margins and staffing levels all fell modestly in July but remain above the threshold of 50.
The not seasonally adjusted national construction unemployment rate was down 2.6% in June 2021 from a year ago and 45 states had lower unemployment rates over the same period.
All three indices (sales, profit margins, staffing levels) remain above the threshold of 50, indicating expectations of growth over the next six months.
Associated Builders and Contractors reported today that its Construction Backlog Indicator fell to 7.8 months in March, according to an ABC member survey conducted from March 22 to April 5, a decrease of 0.4 months from both the February 2021 and March 2020 readings.
WASHINGTON, Jan.12—Associated Builders and Contractors reported today that its Construction Backlog Indicator rebounded modestly to 7.3 months in December, an increase of 0.1 months from November’s reading, according to an ABC member survey conducted from Dec. 18 to Jan. 5. Backlog is 1.5 months lower than in December 2019.
