The Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI), host for Healthy Buildings 2021 - America (HB2021), a biennial event sponsored by the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ), announced the conference has been rescheduled for Jan. 18-20, 2022, at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, in order to allow for in-person attendance.

“With government restrictions temporarily limiting gatherings in the state of Hawaii, we’ve decided to delay the conference in order to remain aligned on our plan to provide an in-person experience,” said John Downey, Executive Director, CIRI. “We’re confident the new dates will allow for even greater attendance as it follows peak season for many practitioners, and is an ideal time to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii.”

The theme of Healthy Buildings-America is “Bridging the Gap Between Research and Practice—In the Age of COVID-19 and Beyond.” Among the more than 250 science-based workshops, oral and poster presentations, researchers Joseph G. Allen, Lidia Morawska, Jordan Peccia and Greg Whiteley will also present. For the first time, this unique conference — which usually is nearly 100 percent academic research — will  feature practice-based research and discussions.

With several short courses available before the event, Healthy Buildings-America will offer a variety of research-based presentations on the topics of ventilation, building maintenance, indoor chemistry, cleaning, disaster restoration, biological contamination, comfort, and health implications of indoor exposures. Contractors involved in cleaning, restoration, facility management or operations of residential or commercial buildings are invited to attend.

“Attendees overwhelmingly want an in-person experience, and we want to deliver that in a way that is not only safe for them, but also the people of Hawaii,” added Downey. “We’re confident that this timing will allow us to host a successful event by all measures.”

Early-bird registration rates are available through Nov. 1, 2021. To learn more about this conference or to register, please visit https://hb2021-america.org.

Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) is the only independent and impartial institute focused on cleaning and building maintenance research. Its purpose is to improve cleaning and restoration outcomes and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) for all indoor environments. CIRI is a 501.c.3 nonprofit scientific, educational and research institute recognized for its groundbreaking cleaning science and research programs. As such, CIRI serves the dual purpose of serving both the “public good” as well as the cleaning and restoration industries. CIRI does not compete with existing organizations; rather, it serves a unique, complementary role and works with all leading industry groups.

ISIAQ is an international, independent, multidisciplinary, scientific, non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the creation of healthy, comfortable and productive indoor environments. We strongly believe this is achievable by advancing the science and technology of indoor air quality and climate as it relates to indoor environmental design, construction, operation and maintenance, air quality measurement and health sciences.
