In 1989, after working in the insurance restoration industry for 15 years, Gary Moore decided to follow his passion and start his own environmental remediation company. Business plan in hand, Moore met with several banks to secure a loan to fund his new venture. Unsuccessful yet undeterred, he took out an equity line of credit on his home and American Technologies, Inc. was born.
Moore’s reputation for high-quality work and uncompromising commitment to customer service quickly spread and, over the years, the staff of three grew and offices were expanded. Indoctrinated into the business at a very early age, Moore’s three boys officially joined the company after graduating from college, working their way through the ranks from entry-level positions to leadership roles. Today, as the nation’s largest family owned and operated restoration and construction company, ATI employs over 1200 people with 20 offices across the country.
A milestone year, 2019 marks the company’s 30th anniversary with many exciting changes. Still at the helm of the company as Founder & CEO, Gary Moore recognized the pivotal moment in the organization’s history, and both promoted from within and brought in fresh talent to surpass the aggressive 5-year strategic plan. Sons Jeff Moore and Ryan Moore were named co-presidents and Scott Moore, EVP of Operations & Environmental, Health and Safety. Kelly Kambs, former president of Terminix, was appointed Chief Operating Officer. Industry marketing executive, Marc Webb, was brought on as Vice President of Marketing & Communications. And highly acclaimed large loss expert, Grant Wassall, was cherry-picked as Vice President of Professional Services. “The strategic plan, designed to further propel our company’s growth, requires top-tier talent and I’m proud of the powerful team we have assembled,” says Gary Moore. “With the combined experience and intellect, I strongly feel that we have laid the groundwork for success,” he continues.
The rapid growth, naturally, required additional space and ATI spent 18 months building a state-of-the-art, 144,000 square foot building in Anaheim, California and moved in earlier this year. Housing both the corporate and Anaheim offices, the building also serves as a warehouse for the fleet of vans, trucks and equipment.
On the heels of growth and success came recognition by way of an award received for Corporate Responsibility, bestowed by the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) of Orange County at their 24th Annual Awards Gala this year. ATI was among over 100 esteemed companies that were nominated. The list was whittled to 30 finalists and finally, ten award recipients.
