Contec, Inc. was recently recognized by the American Heart Association for scoring high on the American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index and obtaining Silver status. Headquartered in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Contec has 525 employees here in the Upstate and nearly 700 worldwide.
The Index, which was developed by the Association’s CEO Roundtable and its Center for Workplace Health Research and Evaluation, was created to quantify evidence-based data from corporations who are dedicated to building healthier work places.
To receive Silver recognition, Contec has implemented disease management programs, has an on-site wellness clinic and fitness facility, provides access to healthy eating options, and offers continuous health education opportunities during work hours.
“We want to help our employees achieve their optimal health,” says Jack McBride, CEO. “We understand that good health correlates to a happier, more productive workforce, which is capable of creating a positive impact in the health of our surrounding community as well.”
Contec is one of the leading companies to partner annually with AHA for their Heart Walk initiative, which raises funds to save lives from stroke and heart disease, and is one of the top donors in the Upstate for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women cause, whose goal is to elevate awareness of heart disease risk in women.
