When Mike Oster, sales manager with Paul Davis Restoration of Lancaster, PA learned that William Nesbit, a 12-year-old who is fighting Leukemia, is a huge fan of Wayne Simmonds of the Philadelphia Flyers, he just had to help make that introduction.
On April 9, that wish came true for William. Paul Davis Restoration and the Philadelphia Flyers arranged for William, who is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) regional Boy of the Year, and his family to attend the Flyer’s game, see the Stanley Cup and meet his favorite player Wayne Simmonds. He had a private meeting in the locker room, received an autographed jersey and other mementos.
“After getting to know William, I just knew that we could make this a special day for him and his family,” said Oster. “We rallied a bunch of employees, rented a bus and took the whole group to the game and support William.”
Oster has also made LLS his passion. He has been nominated for the LLS Man of the Year in Central Pennsylvania. Leukemia has touched his family as his wife has been fighting the disease for six years. He is spearheading a fundraising campaign for this cause.
