On Earth Day, the American Industrial Hygiene Association launched its new Formaldehyde Resource Center. The first-of-its-kind center offers a plethora of information regarding formaldehyde including frequently asked questions, tips on finding an industrial hygienist to help with testing and results, and more.
Formaldehyde is a naturally-occurring organic compound that can be in liquid or gas form. In widespread use, its toxicity and volatility can make exposure a serious health risk.
Donald Weekes, a member of the AIHA board of directors, said this new resource center is meant to help people get expert answers about materials in homes to make informed decision on how to deal with potential toxins.
