The next Property Industry Conference will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013, in Jacksonville, FL, at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville from 1-4 p.m., before the PLRB Large Loss Conference, according to a press release.

Ellen Carney, principal analyst for Forrester Research, Inc., will deliver the keynote presentation on how digital systems and technology support or undermine the claims experience. She will discuss consumers’ expectations of claims and how they have changed over time, the roles of social media in shaping the claims experience, and what insurers should include when building their digital claims road maps.

A panel comprising John Langowski, vice president of claims for United Property & Casualty; Jeff Vanderpool, senior vice president and chief claims officer for Sunshine State Insurance; and Teresa Heller, vice president of claims for American Integrity, will tackle everything from why social media isn’t part of their consumer communications strategy to how social media can be applied to the claims process, liability risks and exposures of using social media, how to minimize those risks, claim prevention and education, as well using social media for storm preparations and communication. Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session after the presentations.

“Social media has changed how consumers communicate with insurers and other parties involved in a claim,” said PIC Chairman Jeff Brinkman. “There are positive and negative aspects to this type of communication and this conference will address some of those challenges.”

Cost to attend the meeting is $60 per person in advance and $70 at the door. Attendees can register online and find out more information at www.propertyindustryconference.org
