SERVPRO® of Saginaw & NW Genesee Countyhas announced that Paul Schwartz, CR, CRMS, Disaster Recovery Manager, has graduated from "The Linders Health Institute," earning a certification in Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), according to a press release. This prominent designation recognizes Paul's knowledge and field experience in the indoor air quality industry as it specifically relates to healthcare infection prevention and best practices for construction and mitigation of medical buildings.
The Linders Health Institute emerged as a result of the regulatory environmental changes over the past 18 months. Mr. Schwartz learned the following:
- Basic Infection Control Principles
- Joint Commission, CDC, and AIA requirements for infection control
- The Four Major Classifications of ICRA
- HVAC and Special Care Settings
- Noise and Vibration/Interim Life Safety
- Environmental Monitoring
- MDROs and HAIs as exposure risks during construction
As the Manager of SERVPRO's Disaster Recovery Team, Paul has lead crews in response to fire and water damage in medical facilities. He is experienced with the complexities and precautions that disaster clean-up requires when there is a risk of hazardous exposure to patients. In January, SERVPRO responded to a pipe break at a local hospital. Paul worked closely with the Infection Control Manager to manage the project, which required negative air pressure to prevent cross-contamination to areas of the hospital that were still in operation.
