The National Institute of Decontamination Specialists (NIDS) recently hosted the first Clandestine Laboratory Scene Assessment Proficiency Examination for Police Forensic Chemists. The examination is designed to assess each participant’s ability to make safe and proper decisions regarding the investigation, dismantling and sampling of evidence through role-playing in a realistic clandestine laboratory scene using real equipment and chemicals.
