Dri-Eaz Products announces the availability of the new LGR 2800i, a portable dehumidifier that offers “industry-leading performance” and unique intelligent sensing features.
With a tested capacity of 130 pints per day at AHAM at only 8 amps, the 2800i is now the industry leader in the pints-per-amp category.
The 2800i utilizes onboard sensors to automatically monitor inlet and outlet conditions. These values are displayed on the control panel for easy reference by the user. The unit also uses this information to automatically adjust fan speed, defrost cycles and other factors in order to maximize performance in every condition, including at high temperatures and in low grain environments.
The unit is compatible with the HygroTrac remote monitoring system. Data collected can be transmitted wirelessly to a HygroTrac gateway (purchased separately), which in turn uploads the data to a secure website for viewing from any computer with Internet access.
The 2800i is also among the first portable dehumidifiers to utilize the earth-friendly 410A refrigerant.
Planning for the 2800i began in earnest about two years ago, well ahead of the EPA-mandated deadline for phase out of ozone-damaging refrigerants, including R-22, currently the mostly widely used refrigerant. The EPA stipulates that no new equipment utilizing R-22 may be manufactured beginning in 2010.
“In our view, the Montreal Protocol phase-out of R-22 presented an opportunity to rethink and redesign the portable dehumidifier from top to bottom,” said Robert Pendergrass, Senior Design Engineer.
Dri-Eaz selected 410a, an ozone-friendly refrigerant for its performance characteristics. “410a requires higher operating pressure, and that requires some system reengineering. But this refrigerant also offers a potential performance gain. We designed the 2800i to take full advantage of the higher system pressures.”
We believe the LGR 2800i is truly a game-changing piece of equipment,” says John Ormsby, VP of Sales and Marketing. “The high performance refrigerant combined with the adaptive controls and HygroTrac compatibility put this unit in a new category of power, efficiency and effectiveness.”
With the launch of the 2800i, Dri-Eaz is no longer manufacturing the LGR 2000, although parts and service support for this discontinued unit will continue to be available. For more information go towww.drieaz.com
