As the weather cools down, it’s time to add heat to control temperatures and accelerate drying. The Dragon K85 diesel-fired portable heater from Dri-Eaz brings fast, efficient heating to drying jobs, building sites and temporary structures. High-volume air movement coupled with indirect heating means the unit can deliver heated economically and safely in a wide variety of situations.
The Dragon uses an indirect fired heat exchanger to provide clean heat for drying. Unlike a propane or kerosene heater, the Dragon’s combustion chamber is separate from the process air chamber. This means that the Dragon heats the air without adding moisture, fumes or smoke. Providing as much as an 81°F temperature increase, the Dragon is ideal for restorative drying applications and anywhere safe, temporary heat is required.
The heat produced by the Dragon indirect-fired furnace can dramatically speed up drying times in water damage jobsites and provide ample heat in new construction, HVAC repairs or remodels, or in temporary structures.
"We were able to significantly reduce the drying times in our flood house by adding dry heat to the crawlspace. And the ducting allows access to almost any hard-to-reach area," said Brandon Burton, Dri-Eaz Technical Education Manager. He added, "The Dragon K85 is really an essential addition to any contractor’s fleet."
The Dragon has a long list of valuable features, including a dual air exhaust for supplying heat to two areas at once; energy-saving operation with a 91 percent efficiency rating; a powerful rated heat output of 85,000 BTUs/hour; and a remote thermostat for maintaining optimum temperature. It features a 9.3 gallon internal fuel tank and a fuel pump that allows for operation with an external fuel tank. Handles and wheels provide maximum maneuverability. The Dragon can also double as a 1200 CFM ventilator – just switch off the heating element and use just the fan.
