FAIRFAX, VA (March 18, 2009) - The American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF) partnered with TSI to distribute the remaining production stock of PortaCount Plus Respirator Fit Tester Model 8020’s that had recently been retired.
“Members of the AIHF board of trustees acted quickly to contact university IH programs across the United States,” said Carter B. Ficklen III, CIH, member of the AIHF board of trustees. “In less than 10 days, the board placed 33 PortaCount Plus fit testers to be used for instruction and research.”
“I think it is wonderful that TSI chose to partner with the Foundation in distributing this equipment to our universities,” said AIHF President Curtis W. Hintz, CIH, CSP. “TSI has been a long-time supporter of the Foundation’s scholarship program, and the donation of these brand new units opens another avenue for improving the education of our future health and safety professionals.”
In mid-December 2008, Greg Olson, senior industrial hygienist and product manager-heath and safety at TSI, contacted AIHF about this partnership.
“TSI is very grateful to be in a position to make a donation like this to these academic institutions and it has been because of the professionals practicing in the health and safety community who utilize our instrumentation,” said Olson. “We realize how important these programs are to the future of industrial hygiene, EHS, and industrial safety and as such would like to aid in their success.
“Having up-to-date equipment is essential in order to prepare students in becoming subject matter experts, their graduation from these IH programs, and transition into the professional health and safety community where they continue to grow and gain experience in their respective fields of practice.”
