Disaster One, Inc. has been selected to clean and treat
artifacts from historic US Airways Flight 1549 in preparation for its display
at the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The restoration company will clean and conserve seat
cushions, life preservers, slides, doors, and related items recovered from the
Airbus A320-214 following what has become known as “the Miracle on the Hudson.”
“Before the plane was lifted from the river a substantial
amount of mud and silt settled on its contents,” said Joe Bitzan, Disaster One
regional manager in Charlotte.
“Our charge is to make sure those items are cleaned and properly treated
so we can preserve this moment in history for everyone to see.”
